St. Charles the Martyr History Brief
The first Episcopal services were held in 1901 and except for a small break from 1906-07 services have been held ever since. The church was first established as a mission church in 1907 and named Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Services were at various places in Fairbury until a church was built and services held at its present location at 6th and G St. in 1910. In 1957 the name was changed to St. Charles the Martyr. In the late 1960's, the Episcopal Church in Hebron, 24 miles west of Fairbury, closed and many of its members joined St. Charles the Martyr and remain active members today.
